I too remember being so overwhelmed when my daughter was whisked off to the NICU. Nothing can prepare you for what that really feels like when your biological instinct is to touch, smell, hear your newborn(s). I think your story is a good one for FTMs to read. I postponed having a second one for 4 years...and finally mustered up courage to have another one...and i end up with twins!!! Crazy luck i guess. Iam 32 weeks pregnant with ID boys....dont know what the experience will be this time around..... Though I intellectually knew it was a possibility, I felt like I "deserved" to skip the NICU because I made it to 36 weeks. And even though my kids' stay, like yours, was "only" a week... that week has a very big impact on your life, your perspective, and your experience of being a new parent.
