Laura, I'm feel badly that your first week was so rough. I too remember being so overwhelmed when my daughter was whisked off to the NICU. Nothing can prepare you for what that really feels like when your biological instinct is to touch, smell, hear your newborn(s). I think your story is a good one for FTMs to read.

What an incredible and artfully told story, Laura.
That picture truly does punctuate it perfectly.
Kudos to you for telling your tale with such candor, and for being such a remarkable twin mom.

Tears in my eyes too....I had a normal vaginal delivery with my son...and he was not in an NICU...he was feeding perfectly right from 15 minutes after birth..and i thought that was difficult. I postponed having a second one for 4 years...and finally mustered up courage to have another one...and i end up with twins!!! Crazy luck i guess.

Iam 32 weeks pregnant with ID boys....dont know what the experience will be this time around.....

I was right there with you on the semi-surprise that my babies would go to the NICU. Though I intellectually knew it was a possibility, I felt like I "deserved" to skip the NICU because I made it to 36 weeks. And even though my kids' stay, like yours, was "only" a week... that week has a very big impact on your life, your perspective, and your experience of being a new parent.

Wow, Laura. Your story brought tears to my eyes. I'm so glad that Nate, Alex and you are now doing so well. You survived what sounded like the worst week of your life. You should be proud of yourself for getting through it!
