Peeping Mommy

July 22nd, 2009 by · 8 Comments

I put down my 2-year old boys for a nap 90 minutes ago. Within 1 minute, Brady walked back out of their room. Proud as a 2-year old can be. “Hi!” he said. Um…didn’t I just put you in a CRIB? A crib with no bumper, no toys, nothing to stand on? I put him [...]

Potty training through twin peer pressure

July 21st, 2009 by · 9 Comments

During the course of parenting multiples, I have a rotating list of least favorite common comments. I know everyone has them. “Double trouble!” “Two for the price of one!” My current #1 least favorite twin comment that started four months ago: “I bet Alex will start using the potty now that he sees Nate using [...]

Way Overdue

July 20th, 2009 by · 14 Comments

For all my talk about getting out with (and without) the kids, this weekend provided a way-overdue first in my house: leaving the kids with a real babysitter for a real date. I briefly had a regular babysitter when my kids were about six months old, a college student who came a few afternoons a [...]

A Message to the Pediatric Dentists of America…

July 19th, 2009 by · 27 Comments

…Bite me.  No, really. Disclaimer: I apologize up front if you or anyone you hold dear is a member of this, um, nobel profession.  But, ARE THESE PEOPLE CRAZY??!! I think it was at the girls’ one year check-up when my pediatrician first asked me how the tooth brushing was going.  Come again?  You were [...]

Potty training….times two

July 18th, 2009 by · 11 Comments

My boy/girl twins, Danny & Abigail, are now 27 months old. I know, no one really wants to talk about poop any more than, as moms of two or more little kiddos, we already do. And yet, doesn’t it take up so much of our day? Instead of giving out information or talking about what [...]

Juggling Multiples In Urgent Care Situations

July 15th, 2009 by · 23 Comments

I talk to my mom just about every day. Which is why I’m scratching my head as to why FIVE DAYS WENT BY before I knew that my 11 month old nephew had been taken to the emergency room for a last-ditch treatment for a case of seal-barking croup. He ended up there late last [...]

Good Plane Fun for Everyone

July 15th, 2009 by · 5 Comments

I hate to fly. I hate take off. I hate turbulence. I hate landing. All three make my heart race, my palms sweat, and my stomach nauseous. But my hometown and most of my family are half way across the country. I hadn’t been home since September 2005, and ever since my twins were born [...]

Take Care of YOU Too

July 14th, 2009 by · 9 Comments

As moms and especially moms of multiples we are always pouring into our children and families and always on the go.  Have you stopped lately to do something for YOU?  I’m a giver and a server.  I’ve always much rather been doing something for others rather than receiving, but I’m slowly learning it’s important to [...]

The HER Within the Mot’her’

Phew! Just got back from our 8 day vacation down the shore…hence, the late post. Anyway, this was our first ‘real’ vacation as a family of six. And, OMG – we not only survived, but we really SO enjoyed ourselves & actually relaxed! I was even able to read AN ENTIRE BOOK, people!!  As I [...]

Cleave

July 12th, 2009 by · 13 Comments

My guys are not one of the sets of twins you hear about who are “total opposites.” They like the same things, to varying degrees but enough that they are always together. They discuss what they want to play. Each is heartbroken if the other refuses to “pay wif me,” and they defend each other against our discipline. They sleep tangled up together, closer than I sleep to my husband. Their top loves in life are Mommy, Daddy, and their twin. Their sisters are in another category. It pains me to think of how we must begin to train them to grow apart.
