It’s hard to say exactly when it began. One monkey would do something, and then the other monkey would notice and do the same thing. Tiny might start by rolling all around on the living room rug, and moments later, Buba would be rolling around on the rug too. Sometimes their monkey see, monkey do behavior is incredibly cute- even picture worthy.

But other times, it can be incredibly annoying- banging their sippy cups on Grammy’s dining room table during Thanksgiving dinner, for example.
I’m not sure if it’s a twin thing, a sibling thing, or if it’s just something that all kids do. But I know I’m powerless to stop it, so I try to use this phenomenon to my advantage. For instance, I know that if I ask Buba to go get his shoes, he’ll laugh and run in the opposite direction. But if I ask Tiny to go get her shoes 9 times out of 10, Buba will follow and get his as well. And then we’re all happy.
So, what tricks do your little monkeys pull that make you smile or drive you nuts? And have you found any clever ways to make monkey see, monkey do work for you?

I will use that to my advantage to make them walk along when they are picking up filthy stuff from the ground outdoors. “Look! There B and Daddy! Let’s go get them!”, seeing that for some reason whoever is with my husband is always ahead of us.
And the banging plates at lunch/dinnertime also drives me nuts. At least we have reduced turning the contents over to less than 50% of meals since they’ve learned to eat with a spoon.

POTTY TRAINING!
Melody potty trained, and when Jessica saw all the positive attention she was getting, she ditched the diaper too.
I have to admit that watching my girls copy one another makes me REALLY glad I’m not a pre-school teacher.

You know, you have actually inspired me to try to make Monkey See, Monkey Do a positive thing. I am going to try it. The one thing they copy each other on that is cute and laughable is dancing.
What drives me crazy? BANGING THEIR UTENSILS/SIPPY CUPS DURING MEAL TIME AND THROWING FOOD!!!! Seriously. Makes me nuts!
